More About Ruth

With extensive experience in the mining sector across three continents, Ruth Jenkins is a Safety and Training Professional. For many years, Ruth worked in open-cut and underground mines (Coal, Gold, Copper, and Iron Ore), gaining a wealth of experience in countries such as South Africa, Mali, Côte d'Ivoire, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. Her background includes various production roles, such as blasting in both surface and underground settings, as well as supervisory and managerial positions in Safety and Training.
 
As a former Shot Firer with experience in both surface and underground environments, Ruth has spent the past 15 years working as a Safety Behavioural Professional across Australia, Africa, and Papua New Guinea. She completed a one-year Management Development Program (MDP) at Pretoria University and holds a Certificate IV in Open Cut Mining, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing, and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
 
Over her career, she has developed skills and expertise in:
  • Auditing and developing training systems
  • Identifying at-risk behaviours
  • Promoting visible leadership
  • Supporting mining companies with integration and auditing against ISO45001, ISO14001, and ISO9001 standards, as well as company OHS systems.
Additionally, Ruth is skilled in safety coaching and advising, is an NLP Practitioner and an mBIT Coach and is experienced in creating management systems and safe working procedures.
